A LAN party is an event where gamers come together (with their computers) and play games with each other. Instead of playing over the Internet, we provide a high-speed Local Area Network (hence the LAN), which provides crazy low pings, as well as the ability to trash talk your opponents from across the room. We've also got tournaments, raffles and giveaways. It's basically a massive shin-dig celebrating PC gaming.
We're not sure. Tell your friends.
Absolutely not! We run open gaming servers the whole time, so you're free to hop from game-to-game during the whole party. Lots of the folks who show up just come for the casual gaming and the atmosphere.
You know it. We like to give back. We hand out tons of stuff for both tournament prizes and raffles. Check out our Sponsors List for an idea of exactly what we like to give.
100 people sharing the same connection doesn't work out too well. Thus, we provide attendees with a limited connection. However, Steam traffic (updates, authentications, etc) is prioritized to keep things running smoothly without the need for offline mode. Don't expect to be playing WoW (or any online game, for that matter) at the party.
We do provide a file server with patches, updates, and maps.
Our network is wired only. Be sure to bring a cable.
Bad idea. You will be sharing a table, so please, keep it reasonable.
No. You are responsible for having your rig ready before the party. We just can't take the time from our other responsibilities.
No. We only have enough power for one computer/monitor per attendee. No exceptions.
Nope. Be sure you bring headphones.
Staff will be floating around the party the whole time, and each row has a "row captain" (one of our volunteers) sitting at the head of it to keep an eye on things. We've never had a report of a theft, but we have had someone leave an entire computer behind. You know how hard it is to bring a PC in to lost and found?
EGSLAN does not supply cracked copies of any games. However, we do not actively police our network or the event for illegal software. We do, however, offer copies of games that have been released under a free license.
ABSOLUTELY NOT. You will be immediately asked to leave, no questions asked.
An area will be set aside for sleeping. There are plenty of hotels in the area, if you prefer.

Makes heat management and high-end power systems for desktop PCs and industrial use. EGS is glad to be sponsored by Thermaltake!
